No Way Tuesday

Adventures of a Stay at Home Mom

About Me

Well, I guess I should start by telling you a little bit about myself. I am a stay at home mom with a husband, 2 kids and a great dog. For as long as I can remember, this is what I wanted to do. I always imagined myself as a stay at home mom. My mother stayed home with me until I went to school, then worked school hours. Looking back on my childhood, I was able to do so many great activities that I would not have been able to do if she was working. They weren’t expensive adventures or crazy vacations, they were simple things. They were cheese and cracker picnics and sunny spring days spent at the park, time with cousins and friends. These are some of my fondest childhood memories. I knew when I had kids, I wanted to be able to give them a similar childhood experience. Here we are!

I imagined myself being the mom that bakes for the bake sale, goes to PTA meetings and volunteers at the school and the local food pantry. I do some of those things, but I’m also the hot mess mom that is often rushing to get to preschool drop off before the front door closes, and accidentally skipped the PTA meeting because I totally forgot to put it in my calendar. I was on the Parent Advisory Board of our preschool for years, spending evenings laughing with the other moms as we prepped for the Art Show & the Book Fair. When my children were a bit younger and I wasn’t stretched between preschool and elementary school volunteering, I was president of our local chapter of MOMS Club. I guess I’m pretty middle of the road on that front.

The kids and I go on a lot of fun adventures and do a bunch of fun learning activities. Several years ago, my cousins and I were talking about the kids. We were discussing the activities and adventures that the kids and I have done lately. They suggested I start a “Mommy Blog” to share all our fun learning adventures and recipes. I laughed it off at the time. A year or so later, someone else had mentioned it. I started to give it a bit of thought. Maybe I could do this..

We came up for the name, No Way Tuesday, a few years ago. When my daughter was about 2, she heard the phrase “No Way, Jose!” and totally misheard/misunderstood the phrase. She started saying “No Way Tuesday!” instead. It stuck, and we still say it, even though she is 5 now. My husband and I were tossing ideas back and forth, and she ran past and yelled “No Way Tuesday” about something. We looked at each other, and knew that would be the name for my blog. I attempted to start this adventure 3 years ago. I didn’t have the time to put into the project that I wanted and it fell through the cracks. The kids are older and a little more independent now, so I decided it was time to get it rolling.
